Dietary inclusion of roselle improves body colouration and survival of the whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) juveniles challenged against Vibrio harveyi

This study was conducted to investigate the use of fresh and heat-treated roselle meals on growth, body colouration, survival against Vibrio harveyi infection whiteleg shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei. Fresh (FR) or (HR) were added at 10% in isoproteic (38%) isolipidic (7%) diets. A control diet prepared without any addition meal. These diets fed shrimp (initial weight 1.26g±0.02g) triplicate groups for 8 weeks then challenged with V. harveyi. The feed efficiency, total carotenoid content, spp. counts hepatopancreas post-challenge test estimated. No significant differences recorded survival, utilization roselle-added (FR HR) compared group. significantly higher concentration detected FR HR (P<0.05). challenge showed that specimens gained a lower number count present finding suggests provide good source increase resistance vibriosis affecting growth utilization.
